Platelet rich plasma (PRP)

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment is proven to be very successful in accelerating the process of healing in various areas of the body. It is also seen to give very good results for hair regrowth and hair restoration. This treatment works usually for patients who suffer from androgenetic alopecia which is a very common problem that shrinks the hair follicles which is called the male pattern baldness.

PRP is a new treatment but is making relatively great progress in the results it can achieve.   This treatment can give positive results and promote hair growth.

Dermacos offers the best equipment and doctors who can offer the optimum results with this treatment.

Hair growth is possible with the advancements in medicine and with the help of the new and proven method of using the patient’s own Platelet Rich Plasma to treat baldness.

At Dermacos we use the Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy through injections of your own platelets. We use it to heal injured tendons, joints,  ligaments and muscles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) shot contains plasma, extracted from your own body which is a part of your own blood. TThis plasma is mostly water and protein, which enables the movement of your red and white blood cells and platelets in the bloodstream. The platelet cells in the blood that enable clotting and aid in healing of any external wound. Generally Doctors use this plasma to help in the healing of injuries and damage to the tissues, joints, skin or muscles.

The PRP shot is made by extracting the plasma from your blood. The doctor has to draw the blood and then uses a specialized method to separate the plasma from the rest of the blood that is extracted. The doctor then identifies the area of treatment and gives local anesthesia to that area so that it goes numb and you will not feel any pain. The plasma is then injected into the area being treated with the help of a surgical needle. This procedure is done by no involvement of pain.

At Dermacos we have specialized machines to extract the plasma and also the latest ultrasound technology to target the right location and get precise results. The treatment lasts not more than 30 minutes but largely depends on the area of treatment. The way this works is that when the platelets are injected into the area, they actually breakdown and enhance the growth factors. These incite the cells to repair and grow new hair. This treatment overall repairs and renwes the body.

There have been a lot of  studies that indicate how this works. But more extensive research is to be undertaken to the extent of results and the range of treatments in which this works. Plasma basically is proven to heal and repair parts and these are proven treatments. For hair regrowth, there is convincing data to show it works. The extent of regrowth however varies. But overall it is good to say that it stops hair fall and prevents baldness. It takes several weeks for it to produce visible results and can take upto 6 months to see the full results of this treatment. For chronic hair loss cases, we might have to repeat the process to see effective results.

It is important that you need to take certain medications in order to make your blood thin which may include drugs like aspirin and ibuprofen. The doctor will advise you to temporarily stop all supplement intake like multi vitamins or minerals. There are no side effects to the PRP treatment, but it takes your blood out. But it is definitely OK to take the blood out and use it for the treatment , if you are a normal person without any underlying health issues.
